Alan was shopping here one day and found out that we need volunteers with computer and html skills. Since then, he has donated his time repairing and upgrading our computers. He has also given us invaluable html tutorials. You can see the improvement in our weekly html emails. (If you don't receive our emails, and would like to, click the "Join Email List" tab at the top of this blog). Alan always comes through -- going out of his way to solve all problems. Thank you, Alan, for your positive energy and work for economic self-determination for the African community.

The Economic Crisis Isn't Colorblind

"As is true with so many aspects of American life, when it comes to the impact of the economic crisis, race matters. According to the Pew Research Center, the median wealth of white households has grown to 20 times that of black households and 18 times that of Hispanic households. The report noted the historic significance of such pronounced inequality, as the gap is the largest since such data collection started over a century ago."
